CHATEAU SAINT BAILLON LE ROUDAI
Combines the powerful Syrah (33%) with the noble Cabernet Sauvignon (67%). It is matured in new oak (allier) casks for up to 10 months and develops distinctive fragrances of blackcurrant, truffles, plums and vanilla. Le Roudai was the first wine of the Cotes de Provence appellation to blend Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Le Roudai is a wine for a night on the town. It can stand alone, or be served with traditional Provencal cuisine. We suggest game, stews, and beef.

The Estate: Chateau Saint Baillon is located in the heart of the 'Cotes de Provence' wine region, 25 miles inland from the Mediterranean coast (Cote d’Azur). Wine has been produced at Saint Baillon since the 3rd century. The Chateau takes its name from a 3rd century Christian martyr, who was devoured by lions near the end of the Roman Empire.

The estate covers 600 acres, but only 75 are used for grape growing. The vineyard is comprised of stony slopes that face both West and South. This privileged exposure to an average of nearly 3,000 hours of sun per season, combined with chalky, clay soil and a subsoil of blue maris, contribute to progressive ripening of the grapes and wines of intense and complex aromas. Saint Baillon’s 16th century cellar has four levels, which allows vinification by gravity. At Chateau Saint Baillon tradition and quality are interchangeable.  Back
